<p>AI has dominated conversations, decisions, and innovations over the past years—and will continue to do so in the years ahead. It has taken on many names and forms, from Generative AI to Copilot AI to Agentic AI, each showcasing its transformative power. The numerous use cases already implemented highlight not only AI’s potential but also the undeniable direction industries must take to stay ahead.</p>
<p>From optimizing manufacturing operations and enhancing quality assurance to real-time regulatory compliance and fraud detection, AI is already reshaping industries. On the customer experience side, I have significant reservations. The healthcare sector is witnessing groundbreaking applications, while creative industries are shifting towards new operating models, focusing on intellectual property (IP) in the form of AI-generated templates rather than finished assets, as highlighted in ‘THE GLOBAL STATE OF GENERATIVE AI IN ENTERPRISE’ report.</p>
<p>Despite the excitement, much of what we see still on social media is either exaggerated for marketing purposes or mere automation disguised as AI. True AI-driven transformation requires more than just technology. Structural change and cultural adaptation are essential. Without these, even the most advanced AI applications will struggle to achieve meaningful impact.</p>
<p>The corporate world has long used the analogy of &#8220;eating an elephant one bite at a time,&#8221; but this approach doesn’t fit the AI revolution. AI adoption must be part of a larger strategic framework, aligned with clear objectives. Without this, fragmented implementations may create more obstacles than solutions, potentially harming rather than helping society.</p>
<p>One striking example of Generative AI’s impact on the arts is Boris Eldagsen’s image <em>PSEUDOMNESIA: The Electrician</em>, which won the Sony World Photography Awards in 2023. Cases like this highlight how AI is pushing boundaries—but also raising questions about authenticity, ethics, and creative ownership.</p>
<p>Every AI use case brings additional challenges: technical capabilities, workforce adaptation, and governance. If these are overlooked, automation efforts risk losing their effectiveness.</p>
<p>To integrate AI successfully, businesses and governments must take a holistic approach, considering sustainability, geopolitical and economic dynamics, and—above all—the human element. AI should enhance, not replace, human decision-making.</p>
<p>Moving too fast without a clear strategy carries risks. Collaboration is critical, and what the world needs now is a unified AI vision. Hopefully, this is what global leaders and policymakers have in mind for 2025.</p>

<p>Along internal challenges detailed in the article ‘<a href="https://www.coziasolutions.com/2024/03/21/todays-gbs-challenges-by-cozia-solutions/"><strong>Today’s GBS Challenges</strong>’</a>, <strong>the shared services/ global business services industry plays a decisive role</strong> in supporting global organizations successfully navigate this very complex global landscape. Deriving from sustainability, artificial intelligence, and macroeconomic factors, a thorough evaluation and immediate analysis of <strong>6 key aspects</strong> are required: (Fig. 1).</p>

<li><em>Social and economic disparities</em> (health and wellbeing, poverty, sustainable and inclusive economic growth desiderate)</li>
<li><em>Climate changes</em> (global warming, pollution, water and food insecurity, increased risk for natural catastrophes, energy use)</li>
<li><em>Regional conflicts</em> (increasing tensions in Middle East, Ukraine-Russia conflict, China- SUA etc)</li>
<li><em>Disrupted supply chains</em> (as a result of climate changes, COVID or regional tensions)</li>
<li><em>AI breakthroughs</em> (showing a higher speed in evolution than the capacity of absorption, poorly regulated, potentially damaging if poorly used, data dependency. Strong need to carefully underpin misinformation and disinformation and mitigate cybersecurity risks). Experts advise it can be used to further address sustainability issues, but it has significant consequences related to energy consumption, so it becomes quite a challenge to find the right balance.</li>

Let’s delve deeper into why this concept is crucial, particularly for global organizations.</p>
<p>While <strong>processes</strong> like invoice posting, journal entries posting, processing payments, goods receipt booking, purchase orders creation, recruitment, onboarding, offboarding and many more may vary between companies, <strong>the core principles remain consistent. </strong>However, many organizations invest independently in finding optimal operational methods, leading to <strong>isolated efforts and higher costs.</strong></p>
<p>This fragmented approach contrasts with nature&#8217;s collaborative strategies, where shared resources and collective efforts often yield superior results. KINETPRISE is a model designed to foster collaboration, share expertise, best practices, costs, and effort. It is particularly aiming to standardize operations across multiple business units and enhance efficiency by leveraging best practices and <strong>reinventing the governance surrounding processes</strong>.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s explore what we believe are the <strong>main challenges faced by GBS organizations today. This is how we started to draft KINETPRISE structure</strong>:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Governance</strong>: To excel as a GBS organization, it is essential to have expertise and active participation in decision-making processes. Collaboration is key, requiring the GBS workforce to possess the necessary skills to actively contribute, influence, and drive decisions. This is not merely about having a &#8216;seat at the table&#8217; for GBS executives; rather, it is earned and demonstrated by every member of the GBS workforce, from top to bottom. Governance is earned, not granted and it has been a bottleneck for GBS organizations, in many instances.</li>
<li><strong>Technology</strong>: New technological advancements must be prioritized in GBS organizations and implemented with minimal disruptions. However, in many cases, the technology strategy is developed at group level and may not be closely aligned with the needs of transactional roles. There is also an unspoken conflict between fully embracing technology which will imply massive headcount reductions and that of growing GBS scope. Technology must be a stronger win for GBS organizations, considering 60%-70% of traditional shared services roles could be replaced by AI in the upcoming years.</li>
<li><strong>Agility</strong>: Traditional structures frequently result in slow-paced organizations due to highly diverse and unintegrated ecosystems, which often are a result of M&amp;As cycles, absence of standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the organization, redundancies at different levels, inadequate process mapping, insufficient capacity planning, sluggish approval processes, complex reporting matrices and many more. The existing structure poses a significant obstacle to agility and makes it difficult to achieve a breakthrough transformation.</li>
<li><strong>Cost</strong>: Previously, the primary goal upon establishing a shared services was cost reduction, with an exclusive emphasis on leveraging best-cost countries to lower payroll expenses. While this strategy may yield short- to medium-term advantages, it could potentially result in disruptions over time. The market for GBS will continually evolve, necessitating a natural adjustment of the respective economy, in line with expertise and with progress. Therefore, cost reduction should always be pursued through structural efficiencies and the strategic integration of intelligent technology rather than payroll cost.</li>
<li><strong>People &amp; Culture</strong>: In the current scenario, roles within GBS organizations have primarily been transactional, requiring entry-level expertise. Despite attempts by leadership, this has led to significant turnover, perpetuating repetitive discussions. It&#8217;s vital to attract and retain top talent with essential skills, and it is particularly important to focus on emerging fields like data analytics and artificial intelligence. A successful GBS also depends on blending diverse cultures and promoting clear communication, highlighting the growing importance of multilingual abilities.</li>
</ol>

This collaborative momentum across organizations, industries, geographies, and ecosystems accelerates the transformation of core and non-core processes, introducing unprecedented levels of <strong>acceleration and agility</strong>, aiming for <strong>true digital transformation</strong>.<br />
We advocate for a collective effort to <strong>redesign organizations, promoting simplicity over complexity</strong>. The approach relies on an extensive level of expertise, breaking down traditional hierarchies to treat every individual as an expert. This collaborative and open mindset becomes essential in avoiding a three decade-long repetition of outdated models in the face of emerging technologies, ensuring organizations not only achieve <strong>economies of scale</strong> and scope but also <strong>economies of effort and solutions</strong>.<br />
Let’s start by challenging the traditional process view, advocating for a holistic approach starting from customer needs and ending with customer satisfaction. This perspective aims to serve organizations at the core, demonstrating that financial soundness and success are achievable through reinvention.<br />
Our initial step involves a <strong>reinvention of the governance surrounding processes</strong>, followed by the introduction of <strong>technology to uphold this innovative approach, all this while diligently creating an appropriate framework for people to operate in. </strong><br />
